Maintenance Technician

Description:

Summary: Performs a variety of skilled facilities maintenance functions.

The intent of this position description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by this position. Employee(s) may be required to perform position-related tasks other than those specifically listed in this description.

Essential Job Functions:
• Provides assistance in repairing, maintaining, and ensuring the proper functioning of the Casino’s equipment, machinery, physical structures, and mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems.
• Performs preventative maintenance in accordance with established maintenance schedules.
• Repairs, removes, replaces, and installs water piping, valves, drains, filters, kitchen and bathroom fixtures, and other related plumbing equipment.
• Installs and repairs electrical circuits, light switches, lighting fixtures, and power receptacles under supervision of an electrician.
• Repairs motors, components, and/or small appliances as required.
• Troubleshoots, repairs, and resets HVAC and refrigeration systems.
• Performs general building repairs to carpets, flooring, lighting, doors, and locks
• Builds walls, soffits, stairs, steps, ramps, and/or decks; installs doors, windows, and locks.
• Hangs drywall and performs painting and/or patching.
• Diagnoses, repairs, and maintains kitchen equipment.
• Performs various welding techniques used in the fabrication and repair of equipment.
• Designs, constructs, and installs cabinetry, casework, and other custom woodworking.
• Operates and maintains fire alarm system including cleaning/installing detectors; enables and disables alarm points; responds to alarms as required.
• May upholster seating, rails, and/or other types of fixtures.
• Operates and maintains various types of maintenance tools and equipment.

Required Knowledge of:
• Principles and practices of facilities maintenance.
• Facilities maintenance tools, equipment, and materials.
• Plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and painting principles.
• Regulations and standards governing facilities maintenance activities.
• Safety protocols relative to the operation of maintenance equipment and tools

Qualifications:

Required Skill in:
• Performing a variety of skilled facilities maintenance functions.
• Safely operating and maintaining facilities maintenance tools and equipment.
• Maintaining compliance with regulations/standards governing facilities maintenance work.
• Reading technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
• Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with others.

Education, Experience, Licenses, Registrations, and Certifications:
• High School Diploma or equivalent, and three (3) years facilities maintenance experience, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• High security gaming license issued by the Grand Ronde Gaming Commission.
• Valid State of Oregon Driver’s License AND eligible for company car insurance.
• Depending on area of assignment, HVAC certification may be required.

Environmental Factors and Conditions/Physical Requirements:
• Work is performed in a facilities maintenance environment with exposure to hazards/noise from equipment operation, high voltage electrical currents, fumes, chemicals, refrigerants, hazardous materials, adverse weather conditions, and tobacco smoke and noise common to gaming facilities.
• Work is subject to frequent walking and standing, intermittent bending, reaching, climbing, crawling, and occasional sitting and lifting up to 75 pounds

Equipment and Tools Utilized:
• Equipment utilized includes facilities maintenance equipment, test meters, power/hand tools, forklifts, man lifts, department vehicles, personal computer, and standard office equipment.
